Lee County Office Holders Object

Keokuk, IA – Lee County's five county-wide office holders are joining forces to oppose the Board of Supervisors' budget-cutting plan. The board wants to cut the work week for the county's union employees by one hour. The auditor, attorney, recorder, sheriff and treasurer have all signed an open letter to the board that calls the action illegal. They say they will not reduce the work week for bargaining unit workers. They suggest the board work to amend the budget, and say they're willing to partner with the board to look for ways to cut spending.
