Lee County To Change Negotiators

Fort Madison, IA – Lee County will have new representation when it starts negotiating new contracts with some of its employees. The Board of Supervisors has hired Cedar Rapids-based Ray & Associates, to represent the county in all collective bargaining matters during the current fiscal year. The company will receive $15,000. The county's agreements with the sheriff's department, the secondary roads department, and the administrative unit expire in less than 1 year. Chairman George Morgan says Ray & Associates has impressed the board with its work on revising the county's personnel policy. If the bargaining units agree to multi-year deals, the county's contract with Ray & Associates will automatically extend to a maximum of three years. Morgan says the board hopes to start contract discussions with the 3 bargaining units as soon as possible.
