Rushville, IL – Congressman Ray LaHood (R-Peoria) was in Rushville to announce an $800,000 grant to upgrade and refurbish the downtown square. LaHood says the money, to be partially matched with city funds, will cover work on streets, sidewalks, and a re-laying of the brick streets that surround the park. Rushville Mayor Ron Shepherd says the city also plans to upgrade sidewalks and street lighting. He says they will also replace some of the water and sewer lines during construction. Shepherd says a city committee is working on how to come up with the $400,000 or more of the city's share.
