LaHarpe, IL – The Illinois treasurer's office is arranging an emergency "bridge loan" to help keep a LaHarpe nursing home open and 32 patients cared for. Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka says the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center notified her office it would have to begin procedures to close on Monday unless it received $150,000. Topinka says the emergency loan will be at no interest. It is designed to help out until the state catches up on Medicaid payments to the care center. Staff at the nursing home say the state is at least six months behind in Medicaid payments.
