Keokuk to Set Goals for the Future

Keokuk, IA – Some Keokuk residents have started setting some goals for the city. A 40-member steering committee has begun work on a 5- to 10-year road map for the city. Chamber of Commerce President, Mark Smidt, says the Vision:Keokuk plan will be a broad look at the goals residents have for the city's future. Smidt says there will be several public input sessions. He says all of the ideas will be melded together by the Institute for Decision Making at the University of Northern Iowa. Smidt says a final plan should be developed in a year. The total cost for the Vision:Keokuk plan is expected to be about $15,000. The city council has agreed to pay for half of that total. Smidt says work is underway to secure the rest of the money.
