Keokuk Adding Security Cameras

Keokuk, IA – Keokuk will install security cameras at its new aquatics center.

The city will pay a one-time fee of around $5,000 to Per-Mar Security Services of Burlington to install seven cameras. The firm will own and maintain the cameras.

The cameras will be installed so they cover both the interior and the exterior of the aquatics center.

Mayor Dave Gudgel says, in time, the cameras will be connected to computers in the Keokuk Police Department's squad cars. Just after the aquatics center opened, someone defaced a towel-dispenser in a restroom and threw pipes and dirt into the actual pool.

Meanwhile, the city is also looking at security for another new facility. Gudgel says security cameras will be added to the new Rand Park Pavilion, which will be dedicated on July 26.

The bids will be accepted from several firms in the very-near future. The Rand Park Pavilion has also been a site of vandalism, as it was spray-painted with graffiti several months ago.
