Keokuk To Add Some Temporary Help

Keokuk, IA – Keokuk will add some summer help to several departments. The city council has agreed to hire a pair of temporary workers to help mow city property. Currently, 2 employees maintain the city's cemetaries while the five workers in the Bridge and Parks Departments are responsible for everything elese. Mayor Dave Gudgel says budget cuts have led Keokuk to the point where there are not enough workers to keep up with the mowing. The 2 temporary employees will work May 15 through Aug. 15. It will cost the city about $8000. The city plans to ask its employees if they have college-age children who are looking for summer jobs.
