Iowa Lottery Machines in Jeopardy

Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Lottery's TouchPlay video machines could soon be gone from businesses across the state. The Iowa Legislature has sent a bill to Governor Tom Vilsack banning the machines and requiring them to be removed from businesses within 45 days of the bill becoming law. Vilsack says, when he returns from a trip to India, he will sign any measure regarding TouchPlay machines that has been approved by lawmakers. Another TouchPlay bill, that has been approved by the Iowa House, would give business owners until September to get rid of the machines. That measure must still be approved by the Senate before it could reach the Governor's desk. Vilsack believes the state is on solid legal ground when it comes to calling for the removal of the machines. The TouchPlay machines bring millions of dollars into the state's coffers.
