Investigation of Congressman Schock Continues

A congressional investigation group is recommending the US House Ethics Committee further review an alleged fundraising violation involving Congressman Aaron Schock (R-IL).

A report from the Office of Congressional Ethics said Schock allegedly sought a $25,000 donation to help fellow Representative Adam Kinzinger in a primary election.

The report said Schock’s request was five times more than what Super PACs are allowed to raise.

The Congressional Ethics report also said newly-elected Congressman Rodney Davis (R-IL) refused to tell investigators if Schock asked for excessive political contributions.   The report said Davis helped manage money in the Super PAC that supported Kinzinger.

It’s unclear when the House Ethics Committee will make a decision on the complaint.

Schock spokesman Steve Dutton said the complaint is without merit and the Congressman will be exonerated after further review.
