Illinois Takes Over TNC Holding

Nauvoo, IL – The State of Illinois has purchased almost 900 acres from The Nature Conservancy for public use. Western Illinois parks director Reagan Ramsey says the Cedar Glen State Natural Area will be under the Nauvoo State Park. He says the tract has about 750 acres of timber land and 140 acres of meadow. It has not been farmed, and contains several threatened or relatively rare species. Ramsey says it will be opened for deer hunting in season, but will be closed to the public during the Bald Eagle roosting season. The land wraps around the WIU Kibbe Life Science Station and adjoins the north edge of Warsaw.
