Canton, IL – The proposed final alignment for a four-lane highway between Macomb and Peoria will be unveiled in February. The Illinois Department of Transportation says it will display the plan during public meetings in Macomb, Canton, and Peoria. The Route 336 Coalition, which supports construction of the highway, organized a news conference in Canton to provide an update. Congressman Ray LaHood (R-IL) said the highway will provide the opportunity for economic development. State lawmakers said they are optimistic that the General Assembly will approve a capital development bill during the spring session. The legislators said they'll push to make Route 336 a top funding priority in that bill.
