The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will hold meeting across the state to allow the public to help shape new hunting and trapping regulations for this fall.
In the past, the DNR held meetings after new rules were announced to gauge public opinion.
Under new regulations the state must discuss possible rule changes before they’re put into effect.
Chief of the Wildlife Bureau , Dale Garner, said the meetings will be held simultaneously using the Iowa Communications Network.
He said the DNR used the ICN last year to get public comments after hunting regulations were announced and had 300 people attend meetings state-wide.
"It's actually a great idea so we can talk with constituents about what they're feelings are of what went right, what didn't go right, and any changes they'd like to see," Garner said.
Garner said the ICN allows the meetings to be held all at once and allows the people at each site to ask each other questions.
The final regulations will be announced this April.
The meetings will be held March 7th from 6 – 9pm on the ICN network. Including in the Trustee Hall Room at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington.
