Henderson County Man Will Run for State Rep

Macomb, IL – Democrats have now chosen a candidate to run for state representative in western Illinois' 94th District. The district's Democratic county chairmen met in Macomb Thursday night and agreed to slate Gail Russell. He lives on a farm south of Biggsville and is co-chairman of the Henderson County board. He's been on the board for eight years. Russell says if he's elected to the statehouse, he'll work to make healthcare more affordable for the self-employed. He also wants to improve the region's infrastructure in order to attract more industry and he would like to make the state's school funding system more equitable. Russell will face Republican Rich Myers of Colchester in the November election. Myers ran unopposed in the GOP primary and is seeking his seventh term in office.
