Health Screening Available to some Farmers

Keosauqua, IA – Some Southeast Iowa farmers may be able to enroll in a statewide program aimed at promoting good health and safety. The Certified Safe Farm Project is open to Southeast Iowa farmers that are at least 60 years old or on Blue Cross Insurance. Southeast Iowa Ag-Health-and-Safety Center Director, Dixie Daugherty, says there are several benefits to those that take part in the free program, including a health screening and a safety tour of their farm. She says the health and safety of those in the program will eventually be compared with those not enrolled. Daugherty says the statewide project will accept up to 600 participants, including about 100 from Southeast Iowa.
