Hancock County Prosecutor Killed in Crash

Authorities say Hancock County State’s Attorney Jim Drozdz is dead after a traffic accident in Georgia.

Dade County (Georgia) Coroner Johnny Gray confirmed Drozdz was killed Saturday night.

Drozdz had been Hancock County state's attorney since 2004.

Gray said Monday that an autopsy was performed Sunday and results were pending the outcome of toxicology tests.

Drozdz had 30 years of experience in the criminal justice system.

Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger said Drozdz worked for Dot Foods and was driving a truck for the company.

Gray said Drozdz attempted to turn onto an entrance ramp, but the vehicle left the road and struck an embankment.
