Galesburg teachers and administrators have another negotiation session with a federal mediator this morning.
Classes could begin as soon as Thursday if the two sides can reach agreement on a new contract.
Tami Qualls with the Galesburg Education Association said until there is a deal, teachers will remain on strike.
“It’s a terrible thing we are experiencing," Qualls said. "No one wants to be on a strike. But that’s our job right now. We are not in the classroom; we are out on the picket line.”
Teachers have been picketing at the district's buildings since last Wednesday.
Qualls said they’ve also maintained a 24 hour presence at the Galesburg High School since the strike began.
