Future Unclear for Winter Sports in Several Hancock County Schools

Hancock County, IL – The future of winter sports at several Hancock County high schools remains in question. The Hamilton and Warsaw school boards are looking at the futures of their winter sports programs. Superintendent Kim Schilson says the Warsaw School Board has agreed to create a Warsaw-Hamilton wrestling program and a Warsaw, Hamilton, Nauvoo Colusa girls basketball team. She says the board is also open to discussion with the two other districts about boys basketball. The Hamilton School Board has not made a decision on wrestling or boys and girls basketball, though its members say they will do so in January. Several board members say they need more information on participation numbers to make sure there are enough athletes for all of the winter sports. The Hamilton, Warsaw, and Nauvoo Colusa school districts have co-op agreements in several several high school sports, including football, track and field, and golf.
