Funding Macomb's Heritage Days

Tents were packed up and the stage torn down as Macomb’s Heritage Days wrapped up. The festival’s planning committee is already looking forward to next year.

Planning Committee Co-Chair Trent Barkley said the weekend’s revenue will go toward paying off outstanding bills for this year’s entertainment and the rest will be reinvested.

“It does allow a little money left over to start booking acts for the next year," Barkley said. "We do use as much of that as possible to make sure the event next year is bigger and better.”

Heritage Days is made possible primarily through vender and carnival fees along with community support both financially and in-kind gifts.

"It's really great what businesses do to come out and help and make this a true event to show their appreciate for the community and everyone around," Barkley said.

Barkley said it’s too soon for the Macomb Area Convention and Visitors Bureau to know how much money the event made. But he says it appears the crowd was equal to if not greater than last year despite some heavy rainfall Saturday.
