Ft Madison Library Referendum Approved

Fort Madison, IA – The vote wasn't even close. 75% of those who went to the polls Tuesday agreed to give the city permission to borrow up to $1.4 million for a new library. The favorable vote will enable the city to land a $600,000 state grant for the project. In addition, more than $550,000 has been pledged in local donations. The library project calls for the old Valley Clinic building to be renovated. The work could begin in December and be completed by November of next year. The new facility will replace the Rashid and Cattermole Libraries.
