Fourth of July Fireworks Around the Tri States

There is arguably no better way to celebrate Independence Day than with a good old fashioned fireworks show.  We've compiled a list of the best places to see free fireworks displays in the tri states region this Fourth of July. 

Plus, we’ve included information about other celebratory events including parades, marching band performances, and activities for the family.

West Central Illinois Fireworks shows:

Bushnell Fireworks:

  • When: Tuesday, July 3rd at dusk
  • Where: Along the highway next to Kitchen Cooked

Carthage Fireworks:

  • When: Wednesday, July 4th at dusk
  • Where: The Joe Grate Sports Complex
  • Other Activities: Fireworks are part of the annual Hancock County Fourth of July celebration in downtown Carthage. Activities begin with an early morning pancake breakfast followed by the parade at 10 am. The daylong celebration features food vendors, entertainers, and things to do.

Havana Fireworks:

  • When: Wednesday, July 4 at 9:15 PM
  • Where: Riverfront Park
  • Other Activities: 5K run on Main/Plum kicks off at 8:30 am. Parade on Main St. starts at 10 am. The daylong celebration in Havana includes vendors, bounce houses, petting zoo, boat parade, and children's pageant. 

Monmouth Fireworks:

  • When: Wednesday, July 4 at dusk
  • Where: Monmouth's Citizens Lake.
  • Other Activities: The Monmouth Flying Club will hold its 52th annual fly in breakfast at the Municipal Airport from 7:00 to 10:30 am. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or ahead of time.

Macomb Fireworks:

  • When: Wednesay, July 4 at 9:00 pm.
  • Where: Western Illinois University's Q lot - parking lot
  • Other Activities: The celebration co-hosted by the City of Macomb and WIU kicks off at 5:00 p.m. and will feature food vendors and entertainment by he Macomb Municipal Band and the King Graffiti Band. Also, check out the Flags of Love display in downtown Macomb at Chandler Park from light until dusk on Wednesday.

Galesburg Fireworks:

  • When: Wednesday, July 4 at dusk
  • Where: Lake Storey Beach
  • Other Activities: The annual Big Bang Boom Splash Bash features a full day of activities for the entire families including relays, a water balloon toss, games, and competitions. Lake Storey will be open for swimming and boating.

Knoxville Fireworks:

  • When: Wednesday, July 4 at dusk
  • Where: James Knox Park
  • Other Activities: Community Band will hold a concert beginning at 7:30 pm.

Quincy Fireworks:

  • When: Wednesday, July 4 at 9:20 p.m.
  • Where: Clat Adams Park
  • Other Activities: The celebration begis at 5 pm and will feature a performances by the Illinois National Guard 144th Army Band and the Quincy Park Band.

Rushville Fireworks:

  • When: Wedneday, July 4 at 9:45 p.m.
  • Where: The Rushville County Fair grounds
  • Other Activities: The day long event at the fairgrounds includes a cattle show, swing show, demo durby and kids zone.

Southeast Iowa Fireworks Displays :

Keokuk Fireworks:

  • When: Wednesday, July 4 at 9:30
  • Where: Rand Park
  • Other Activities: The City of Keokuk's four-day celebration wraps up on Wednesday. The carnival will be open all day with band performances throughtout the day. 

Mount Pleasant Fireworks:

  • When: Wednesday, July 4 at dusk
  • Where: McMillian Park
  • Other activities: The 4th of July celebration begin with the Firecracker 5K run at 9 a.m. Monday. There will be rides, live music and food throughout the day with a parade scheduled for 5 p.m.

Ft. Madison:

West Burlington Fireworks:

  • When: Wednesday, July 4 at 10:01 p.m.
  • Where: Between the 100 & 200 block of Broadway St.
  • Other activities: A day-long event is scheduled in West Burlington featuring live music, bingo, inflatables, and a pancake breakfast.
