Fort Madison, IA – City leaders are exploring several options for providing water to the residents of Fort Madison. The city council is leaning towards building a new 4,000,000 gallon/day facility. Other options include buying water from Keokuk or upgrading the current plant. The price tag would be over $10,000,000 for any of the three options. The city council is considering a nearly 24% increase in the water rate to help cover some of the costs.
