FM Chamber Director Leaving

The Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new executive director with Sarah Cantrell stepping down effective Friday, June 21.

Cantrell is leaving after serving as executive director for about 3 1/2 years to manage a medical office in the Bloomington/Normal area.

She says as an Illinois State University graduate, "if feels like going home."

Cantrell says she has enjoyed her time in Fort Madison, in particular her involvement in two programs.

"I am definately proud of reviving Community Thanksgiving," says Cantrell.  "That has been such an honor to be a part of.  (The other is) the L.E.E. program, which is the leadership program formed for the county."

She says she is getting everything in order and trying to get as much information out of her head and into notebooks and binders for other people.

"The show will go on without me."

Cantrell plans to return to Fort Madison, next month, to help with RAGBRAI.

Fort Madison Partners Executive Director Tim Gobble says the position is being advertised with applications being accepted through Friday, June 21.

He says some additional duties will be added to the position in the areas of marketing and event planning.
