F1 Intensity for Blandinsville Tornado

Western Illinois – The National Weather Service says at least two tornadoes touched down in western Illinois during the storms of Sunday April 2. The strongest was an F1 tornado near Blandinsville. The weather service says that tornado was 14 miles in length and up to 1/8 of a mile wide. It destroyed the Hires Township maintenance garage, 7 grain bins, and 2 wood barns. The NWS says a tornado also touched down near Terre Haute but it caused no significant damage. It had an intensity of F0 and was on the ground for just a brief period of time near the intersection of Routes 94 & 96. In addition, straight line winds caused damage in Bushnell. Four other tornadoes were confirmed in southeast Iowa, including an F2 in Washington and another F2 in Pittsburg.
