Exhibit Features 19th Century Posters

Macomb, IL – An impressive and colorful exhibit is now on display at the Western Illinois Museum in Macomb. The exhibit features large, hand-crafted posters that were used for advertising in the late 19th Century. Museum Assistant Keel Clemmens says the posters are originals - not reproductions. Most are from France and were created by masters of the time such as Cappiello and Toulouse-Lautrec. The posters are from the collection of Dr Lindsey Ma of Peoria, who is originally from Macomb. "Advertising Art of the Late 19th Century" will remain on display at the Western Illinois Museum through the end of March. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is located at the corner of Washington and LaFayette Streets, just off the courthouse square. Admission is free. You can learn more about the exhibit by clicking on the audio button above.
