Erosion Alters Park Plans

Rushville, IL – Spring rains have pushed boat dock repairs to the top of the five-year plan for Rushville's Schuy-Rush park. Mayor Ron Shepherd says erosion has sent part of the dock area into the lake in the region where pontoon boats are tied up. At a public hearing this week, no one objected to applying for a $273,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to replace the dock. Shepherd says other planned work might be delayed including bolstering the electrical service in an area used by large camping trailers. He says the park board would also like to add showers and rest rooms to the Boy Scout section of the park. He says when scouts are not using it, this would be a good area for families with small children. It would keep them from mixing with park traffic.
