Environmental Study in Keokuk

Keokuk, IA – The results of an environmental analysis on a property across from Lincoln Elementary in Keokuk could be known in about one month. Environmental consultant, John Brimeyer, says the soil samples, taken yesterday, will be tested to determine what, if any, site clean-up is needed. The property was home to a gas station, several decades ago, which Brimeyer says could result in contamination because of the large storage tanks. Brimeyer says the property is a Brownfield site, which means there either could be or already is soil contamination. He says the study must be conducted so that environmental requirements for development can be met.
