Engineering Study Possible for Pool

Macomb, IL – Macomb aldermen are figuratively dipping a toe in the water to determine whether a new pool is needed. Aldermen will decide next week whether to seek bids for an engineering study on Glenwood Pool. Members of the city's pool committee would like to have the study done, but aldermen were somewhat reluctant to place the item on next week's agenda. Several aldermen say it's already pretty clear to them that it's not worth spending more money to fix the pool. Nonetheless, the pool committee says the study will provide important documentation. Committee member Chuck Wrenn says the community deserves to know how long Glenwood might last with routine maintenance and how long it might last with renovations. He'd also like to know how long a new pool might last and whether its price tag would be significantly greater than the cost of maintaining Glenwood.
