Burlington, IA – Jason Parrott's guests are Kali Andrews with the Alzheimer's Association-Greater Iowa Chapter and Mary Ann Gaudette with the southeast Iowa chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. They spoke about a pair of fundraising events coming up October 9-10.

The 2010 Memory Walk will take place in Burlington's Crapo Park Saturday, October 9 at 10:00 A.M.

Kali Andrews with the Alzheimer's Association-Greater Iowa Chapter says the idea behind the walk is to raise money for research and to raise awareness about the disease. She says Alzheimer's can affect anyone out there.

Andrews says 1 in 8 people over the age of 65 have Alzheimer's. She says that drops to 1 in 2 by the age of 85.

Andrews says the goals for this year's Memory Walk are 300 participants and more than $57,000 raised.

Meanwhile, the 2nd annual Walk for Wishes will be held in Crapo Park Sunday, October 10 at 12:00 P.M.

Mary Ann Gaudette says the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation hopes to raise at least $5,000 this weekend. She says that money will be used to provide wishes to children in southeast Iowa.

Gaudette says there are 17 wishes in the process of being granted at this time.
