Macomb, IL – Alex Degman's guest is Dr Mari Loehrlein, who is a horticulture professor at Western Illinois University. She launched her own website about sustainable landscaping.
Loehrlein says similar classes are taught at other schools. But none get into the same detail as her class. She says creating the website was faster than trying to publish a textbook for the class.
Loehrlein says the website is aranged like chapters in a book. It covers topic such as alternative energy, recycled landscape materials, and pesticide use.
Loehrlein plans to offer the course every other year. She hopes there is eventually enough interest to make it a more frequently offered on-line course.
