Macomb, IL – Rich Egger's guest is Allen Nemec, who is author of Macomb Homes With Names: A Look Into Macomb, Illinois' Historic Homes, Their Past Inhabitants, and A View of Them Today.

Nemec said the self-published book includes text about and photographs of roughly 200 homes. Just about all of them precede 1930.

Nemec works a full-time job so the book was something he worked on in his spare time. He conducted extensive research with help from the WIU Archives. It took him about five years to complete the project.

The homes profiled can be found throughout Macomb. Nemec was surprised to discover how many of the homes have been moved from their original location. In some cases they were moved in the name of progress - for example, to make room for a new business.

Nemec will sign copies of his book on Saturday, November 13, 10:00am - Noon and 1:00pm - 2:00pm, New Copperfield's Book Service on the courthouse square.
