Macomb, IL – Rich Egger's guests are John Hallwas and Jeannie Woods. They talk about the locally written and produced play The Conflict: A Soldier's Memories of the Civil War.

The play will be performed May 26 - 28, 7:30 each night, at Western Illinois University's Hainline Theatre. General admission tickets are $17. The price is $15 for senior citizens age 65 and older, and tickets are $10 for children and students.

The play was written by Hallwas, who is the well-known author of numerous histories about western Illinois, including the books The Bootlegger and Dime Novel Desperadoes.

The play The Conflict is based on Hallwas' research on the life of W.H. Hainline, who fought in General Sherman's army and survived imprisonment at Andersonville. The story is set in 1911, which is the 50th anniversary of the start of the Civil War.

Woods will direct the production. She is founder of Starry Night Repertory Theatre, which was started a couple years ago and has presented the plays Vincent and Last Train to Nibroc in Macomb.

The theatre company also performed The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) for audiences in China.
