Macomb, IL – Rich Egger's guest is Diane Carson, who is a professor emerita at St Louis Community College. She was one of the featured speakers at the 17th Annual Dealing With Difference Institute at Western Illinois University.
Carson has studied films for years. She says it's not unheard of for people to imitate the behavior they see in films. Carson says that raises concerns, especially because of the way women are often portrayed.
Carson says women are often used as nothing more than eye candy and their characters show little depth. She says that does not do men any favors either because they also are not given a chance to be analytical or thoughtful when dealing with women.
Carson says examples can be found throughout much of the history of film.
Carson became interested in films while she was a college student. She was intrigued by their power and has studied them ever since.
