Macomb, IL – Rich Egger's guest is Dr Tracy Davis of Western Illinois University's Educational and Interdisciplinary Studies program. They talk about the 17th Annual Dealing With Difference Institute.
The DWDI begins Monday May 17 with a dinner at the WIU Alumni House. The dinner will be followed by a discussion of the movies Blindside and Precious.
Guest speakers will highlight the day on Tuesday May 18. Tim Wise will give the presentation "Colorblind: The Rise of Post-Racial Politics and the Retreat from Racial Equity" at 10:00am. Wise is a nationally recognized cultural diversity advocate, anti-racist activist, author, and lecturer.
At 1:30pm, Diane Carson will give the presentation "Gender Representation in Master Narratives." Carson is a Professor Emerita at St. Louis Community College at Meramec. She earned a doctorate in American Studies from St. Louis University and taught film criticism and production courses for many years at SLCC as well as at Webster University in St. Louis.
The DWDI will conclude with workshops on Wednesday morning May 19.
