Macomb, IL – Rich Egger's guest is Janice Welsch, who is co-coordinator of the 18th Annual Dealing With Difference Institute. The two-day conference begins Tuesday, May 17 on the Macomb campus of Western Illinois University.

All of the Institute's events and activities will take place in the WIU Multi-Cultural Center.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Shakti Butler. She is a filmmaker and Executive Director of World Trust. Her presentation begins at 1:00pm on May 17.

The theme for this year's Institute is "Fear: Its Uses and Abuses." Organizers said that theme was chosen because of fear's "...relevance in the lives of a large portion of the world's population."

The conference will include panel discussions on fear in mass communications and the science of fear. There will also be a session on countering fear through techniques such as meditation and yoga.
