Rich Egger's guest is Mary Warnock, Chairperson of the Macomb Area AARP's Creative Elder Options committee. They talk about the new edition of the Senior Services Directory for McDonough County.
Copies of the booklet are available at Macomb City Hall, the Macomb YMCA Senior Center, and McDonough District Hospital. It can also be found on the Macomb AARP's website.
The 50-page directory contains information about services, resources, and assistance. It covers topics such as money management, hospice care, and transportation services. It also contains a list of helpful phone numbers.
"We don't want to brag but we think we're the only county in the whole state that has something like this," Warnock said.
Warnock said an index was added to this year's edition to make it even easier to use. She said the directory can be helpful to seniors, their friends, and their family members.
Warnock and seven others serve on the committee. They put a good deal of research into the directory.
"There's a lot of footwork. Everybody on the committee has an assignment, and they're very intrepid and they go out and search," Warnock said.
The Macomb Area AARP first issued a Senior Services Directory in 2007.
