Colchester, IL – Rich Egger's guest is Robin Hinchee, who is site superintendent for Argyle Lake State Park. Hinchee takes us on an audio tour of storm-damaged parts of the park.
The damage was caused by a flash flood three years ago. Repairs have not been made because of the state's ongoing budget problems. Hinchee says initial estimates show it would cost $3.5 million to make repairs and improvements.
Hinchee says about half of the road around the park is closed because of the damage. Gates are set up to prevent people from driving in that part of the park. It's possible for people to walk around the gates but Hinchee is asking people to not do that. He says it would be difficult to provide emergency care to someone injured beyond the gates.
Hinchee says some large trees and parts of the road might still be unstable because of the storm damage and further erosion from this year's heavy rains.
