Keokuk, IA – Jason Parrot's guest is Dr Loren Horton. He is a former senior historian for the State Historical Society of Iowa.

They talk about the rich variety of ethnic groups that traveled to Iowa during the 19th Century. Horton also explains why people chose to move from Europe to Iowa.

Horton says by 1895, recent immigrants and the children of recent immigrants made up about one-fourth of the state's population.
