Election Preview - Central Lee Tax Referendum

Donnellson, IA – One Southeast Iowa school district wants to broaden its ability to spend certain tax dollars. Voters in Iowa will go to the polls, Tuesday, to decide races for local school boards. While there are no contested board races within the Central Lee School District, residents have one decision to make. Superintendent John Henriksen says the district is asking for more flexibility in using the money generated by Lee County's local option sales tax. At this point, he says the district can only use the money for school infrastructure. The district has used the local option sales tax revenue, in recent years, to add classrooms and to replace the high school roof.
