Election 2017 - SCC Board of Trustees - Myra Bruegger

Two people are running to represent District 2 on the Southeastern Community College Board of Trustees. Tri States Public Radio spoke with both candidates about their campaigns and their plans if elected, including Myra Bruegger.

Bruegger would be a newcomer to the SCC Board of Trustees if elected but she is quite familiar with the college. She retired in May after 30 years with the college, holding faculty and administrative roles during her tenure.

Bruegger said she is running because she feels she still has more to offer to the college and to bring a fresh perspective to the board, given that several trustees have been on the board for many years.

Bruegger said the biggest challenges facing the college are the need to increase enrollment and the need to hire more full-time faculty members. She said hiring more full-time faculty will help in recruiting students and creating a better learning environment.

District 2 includes the residents of the Danville, Mediapolis, Morning Sun, Wapello, and West Burlington School Districts along with some voters in Burlington and in rural Des Moines County.
