Eagles Building to Re-Open in January
The former Eagles building in downtown Keokuk will be open for business in January.
Crews started renovating the building at the corner of 4th and Blondeau Streets in March.
The two-story structure will feature both commercial and residential space.
Joyce Glasscock is the Executive Director of Main Street Keokuk, Inc. A subsidiary of MSK, Keokuk Downtown Properties, owns the building.
Glasscock says substantial completion of Eagles on Blondeau is scheduled for December 31, though crews expect to wrap up the work about two weeks earlier.
She says applications are now being accepted for the four upper-story apartments.
The apartments range in size from roughly 1,400 – 2,100 square feet. The monthly rent runs from $950 to $1,500, depending on the apartment.
The property will also feature an elevator, garages, and a roof-top garden.
Glasscock says potential businesses are encouraged to contact her office as the commercial applications are still being developed.
There is about 5,700 square feet of space available on the first floor. About ¼ of the space, along Blondeau Street, has been customized while the rest can be built to suit.
The roughly $2.2-million dollar project has been funded through a state grant, state and federal historic tax credits, private investors, and loans.
