Duo Arrested in Macomb for Receiving Drugs via Mail

Macomb police said Trae Kirk, 21, of Aurora and Brandyn Gray, 21, of Prospect Heights had drugs mailed to them from the west coast through the U.S. Postal Service.

The two men were arrested after a "combined drug unit" executed a search warrant at 230 N. Sherman St. in Macomb Tuesday afternoon.

Kirk and Gray are both students at Western Illinois University. Kirk is a junior majoring in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration. Gray is a junior majoring in Political Science.

Police said they found marijuana packaged for delivery, digital scales and Adderall at the home.

Kirk is charged with manufacture/delivery and possession of cannabis over 30 grams but under 500 grams and with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Gray is charged with manufacture/delivery and possession of a controlled substance, Adderall. He is also charged with manufacture/delivery and possession of cannabis over 30 grams but under 500 grams.

Police say the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into a large scale operation and that more arrests are possible. 

The combined drug units consists of the Macomb Police Department, the McDonough County Sheriff's Department, the WIU Office of Public Safety, the Blandinsville Police Department, the Bushnell Police Department, and the Colchester Police Department.
