Donnellson Working On Firefighter Memorial

Donnellson, IA – One Southeast Iowa community hopes to move forward with a memorial to some local heros in the next couple of months.

Donnellson Vision Inc member, Jane Krebill, says fundraising efforts are still underway for the proposed Donnellson Fire Station Memorial Park.

She says the vacant lot near the fire station will soon include a bronze statue of a firefighter, trees, plants, new sidewalks, and flag poles.

Krebill says residents want to honor Donnellson's volunteer firefighters and have been stepping up when it comes to donating their time and money.

She says the current goal is to have the sidewalks poured and trees planted in the next six weeks.

Krebill says the statue has been paid for but money is still needed for the rest of the memorial.
