DMC Attorney Moves to New Office

One Des Moines County department is now operating out of its new home, the former US Bank building in downtown Burlington.

County Supervisor Tom Broeker says he had concerns about the county attorney’s office being located in the Burlington Police Station for years.

He cited the structural integrity of the building.

"So we finally got (Pat Jackson) out of there and to a place where the staff is more at ease and more comfortable," says Broeker, "so we are happy about that."

Broeker says there are just a few items that remain in the old office.  He says they should be placed in storage before the end of the week.

Broeker jokingly says the one “concern” he has heard from staff is about the location.

The new office is about four blocks from the Des Moines County Courthouse, which is nearly twice the distance as the previous office.

Broeker says the cost of the move came in at around $25,000.
