Deputies Get Car Computers

Macomb, IL 61455 – The McDonough County Sheriff's Department will get computers in the squad cars. The computers will be linked to the dispatch center. Chief Deputy Rick Manser says the computers will make it easier for agencies to communicate with each other. In addition, he says conversations will not be heard by people with scanners. Officers will also be able to check license plate numbers and criminal histories without calling the dispatch center. The computers should be installed by the end of September. The money comes from a homeland security grant.
