Courthouse to get Heart Defibrillators

Macomb, IL – The McDonough County Courthouse will get three automatic heart defibrillators and a third floor fire escape ladder. Charles Ackers of the ad hoc Safety Committee says the group is working to reduce the number of hazards in the county's buildings. He says this could reduce the more than $900,000 now paid each year for liability and workers compensation premiums. Ackers says the committee was suggested by the county's insurance carrier. It includes members from all county agencies. He says the group has recommended some building repairs. It will also begin a monthly walk-through of county buildings to check for hazardous conditions.
