County Seeks Alternative Sites

Macomb, IL – McDonough County is looking for places it could continue business if the courthouse was damaged or destroyed. Board chairman Bob Harwick says talks are underway about using some of the vacant store-front space on CourtHouse Square. However, he says a tornado that destroyed the Courthouse would also damage those buildings. He says the county is also looking into some of the vacant buildings on East Jackson Street, such as Heilig-Meyers or the Farm King buildings. The move to find alternative space is part of a review of the county's emergency preparedness.
