Macomb, IL – The cost of a McDonough County Marriage License might soon go up by 60 percent.
Various county departments have been asked to increase their fees to raise revenue.
The Finance Committee will recommend to net week's Finance Committee that the fee go to $40 from $25.

She says the marriage license fee is the only one which an analysis shows can be increased.
When the analysis was done, the board increased the fee to $25 rather than the maximum allowed then of $40.
Henry says fees in the circuit clerk's office and the state's attorney's office are set by the state and provide little chance of an increase.
However, she says both offices are working on a collections program to bring in some of the money that's owed to them.
County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes says the county issues 16 marriage licenses in the average week.
