Congressman-Elect Working On Transition

Keokuk, IA – Southeast Iowa's new Congressman is making the transition from college professor to politician. Democrat Dave Loebsack of Mount Vernon says the fact that he's been taking part in freshman orientation sessions in Washington DC is a surprise to many. Loebsack has been holding public meetings, across the district, before he starts work next month. Loebsack says he has hired a Chief of Staff and a District Manager, both of whom worked for Congressman Leonard Boswell (D-Iowa). He plans to have a presence in Southeast Iowa, though the specifics, such as a district office, are still being worked out. Loebsack will serve on the committee on education and the workforce, which will deal with minimum wage, No Child Left Behind, and higher education.
