Communication Key for Lee County GOP

The new head of the Lee County GOP says communication is key to future success.

Terry Schrepfer of Fort Madison brings a diverse background to the position.

He touts his four years in the U.S. Navy, his time as a small businesses owner, and his career in the railroad industry.

Schrepfer says he decided to get more involved in local politics because of his opposition to the views of President Barack Obama.

“People are starting to realize that this is not the government they want,” says Schrepfer, “not only in Lee County, but across this nation.”

We want to get our message out that we are also for the people.

Schrepfer says the Democratic Party is also moving in the wrong direction.

“You knew who (the Democrats) were and where they came from,” says Schrepfer.  “The things they did were monumental.”

Schrepfer says as Chairman, he will work to make sure people know that Republicans and Conservatives care about them.

“We want to get our message out that we are also for the people.  The Democrats are not the only ones for the small person, the republicans/conservatives are as well.”

Schrepfer says another goal is to recruit more candidates to prevent future Lee County ballots from being void of Republicans.

Schrepfer says the Central Committee is working on a plan to accomplish these goals.

He believes there are Republicans in Lee County who stay behind the scenes due to the county being a Democratic stronghold for so many years.

Schrepfer says membership/fundraising efforts should pick up in the coming weeks and months.
