Committee Will Dive Into Pool Issue

Macomb, IL – The City of Macomb and its park district hope to be swimming in suggestions from the community. Both governmental bodies want to know what type of swimming pool is desired by residents. A citizens swimming pool committee will be formed to explore all options, which could include building an aquatic center, building a new pool similar to the one at Glenwood Park, or maintaining the current pool. They will also determine where a pool should be located. The committee could be formed Thursday night during a meeting in the Macomb City Hall community room. It begins at 6:00 p.m. and organizers say everyone is welcome to attend and join the committee. Park District Executive Director Ray Peterson says the Glenwood pool should not need any major repairs for another five to ten years. He says the committee will need to develop a plan for the city's long-term swimming pool needs.
